GEM Partners, a marketing agency, has released the results of a comprehensive brand reach survey across seven media platforms in Japan. The survey, conducted monthly with 100,000 participants aged 15-69, uses a unique "reach score" index to measure daily brand interactions via apps, games, music, videos, and manga. Pokémon secured the top spot, achieving a remarkable 65,578 points.
Pokémon's dominance stems largely from its App Games category performance, scoring 50,546 points (80% of its total score). The continued success of Pokémon GO and the recent launch of DeNA's Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket were significant contributors. Further boosting its reach were strong showings in Home Video (11,619 points) and Video (2,728 points), fueled by collaborations like the Mister Donut partnership and the rising popularity of collectible card games.
The Pokémon Company's 2024 financial report underscores this success, reporting 297.58 billion yen in sales and 152.23 billion yen in gross profit. These figures solidify Pokémon's position as a leading and rapidly expanding brand within Japan.
The Pokémon franchise encompasses a diverse range of media, including video games, animated shows and films, trading card games, and various other products. Established in 1998, The Pokémon Company, a joint venture between Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures, manages all aspects of the brand's operations.
