No PvE Mode Planned for Marvel Rivals, Developer Confirms

by Aaron Mar 29,2025

Though Marvel Rivals is a relatively new game, players are already buzzing with excitement over potential new features. Recent rumors suggested the possibility of a PvE boss fight, sparking speculation about a forthcoming PvE mode. However, NetEase has clarified that they currently have no plans for such a mode...yet.

At the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, we had the opportunity to speak with Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu about the potential for a PvE mode. Here's what he shared:

"For now, we don't have any kind of PvE plan, but our development team is continuously experimenting with new gameplay modes. If we find that a new specific game mode is entertaining and fun enough, we would certainly bring it to our audience."

Following Wu's statement, Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo chimed in, asking if I would like a PvE mode in Marvel Rivals. When I affirmed my interest, Wu elaborated:

"Yeah, we believe there are some of our audience who would enjoy a PvE mode. However, if we were to introduce a hardcore PvE experience, it would offer a completely different and distinctive experience from what we currently have. Our development team has been continuously experimenting with various approaches to achieve this goal, possibly through a lighter mode, to see what would work best for our game."

It appears that while there are no concrete plans for a PvE mode at the moment, Wu's comments suggest that NetEase is exploring ideas for a "lighter" game mode, perhaps something like a one-off event. For now, NetEase remains tight-lipped about further details.

Marvel Rivals continues to evolve, with new characters being added every month and a half. The Human Torch and The Thing are set to join the game on February 21. We also discussed with Wu and Koo the potential for a Nintendo Switch 2 release of Marvel Rivals, which you can read about [ttpp]. Additionally, we addressed the issue of whether NetEase was trolling dataminers with fake hero "leaks" in the game's code.
