Split Fiction Hits 2 Million Sales After Just 1 Week

Hazelight Games has announced that their latest co-op adventure, Split Fiction, has continued its impressive launch by selling 2 million copies within just one week of its release. The game, featuring a dual-protagonist narrative, was released on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, and has quickly established itself as another major success for the studio. Hazelight expressed their gratitude on social media, stating they were "blown away" by the support from both new and returning fans.

The game's sales momentum was evident early on, with Hazelight revealing that 1 million copies were sold within the first 48 hours after launch. This means that another million copies were sold in the following five days, showcasing the game's strong market reception.

Split Fiction benefits from its co-op nature, suggesting that the actual number of players engaging with the game is significantly higher than the sales figures indicate. The game's Friend's Pass feature enhances its appeal by allowing one player to purchase the game and invite a friend to play at no extra cost. As the game continues to gain traction on social media, the sales figures are expected to grow even further.

Hazelight's previous title, 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, also enjoyed a successful launch, selling around 1 million copies a few weeks after its release in March 2021. The sales for It Takes Two eventually reached 10 million copies by February 2023 and soared to 20 million by October 2024, indicating a similar trajectory could be in store for Split Fiction.

In IGN's review of Split Fiction, the game was praised as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," highlighting its innovative approach to storytelling and gameplay.
