"Squad Busters 2.0 Launches on Android Before First Anniversary"

Squad Busters is celebrating its first anniversary with a monumental update—version 2.0, set to launch on May 13th. Since its debut in 2024, the game has struggled to capture the audience Supercell had hoped for. With this update, the developers are aiming to turn things around and breathe new life into the game.

This Isn’t Just a Tweak or Two

Squad Busters 2.0 isn't just a minor update; it's a full-fledged reboot. The game is undergoing a complete overhaul, from the mechanics of battles to the conditions for victory. The most significant change is the introduction of Heroes. Players will now select a Hero to lead their squad into battle. These Heroes are familiar faces from existing characters, and if your Hero falls, it's game over.

Combat mechanics are also getting a major shake-up. You no longer need to pause to engage in battle; movement and combat are now seamlessly integrated, resulting in more dynamic, fast-paced, and intense matches. The new victory conditions are centered around defeating the enemy Hero, rather than wiping out all opponents. Some players are comparing this shift to a more Brawl Stars-like experience, albeit with additional layers.

Squad Busters 2.0 Is Dumping a Lot of Old Features

To make room for these new elements, several old features are being removed. Game modes such as Doppelgangers, Double Trouble, Epic Overload, Loot Machines, and Hatchling Herder are being discontinued. Additionally, some skins and progression systems will be phased out. To soften the blow, Supercell plans to compensate players with Hero Points and other in-game items.

You can get a closer look at all these changes in the Squad Busters 2.0 update video below.

It's clear why Supercell is pushing these changes so aggressively. Squad Busters hasn't reached the heights of popularity seen with games like Clash of Clans or Brawl Stars. With the big update and the first anniversary approaching on May 29th, Supercell is banking on this reboot to rekindle player interest. To celebrate, they're introducing daily piñata events, which will offer opportunities to unlock a new Hero, Mortis.

You can download Squad Busters 2.0 from the Google Play Store and experience these exciting changes firsthand.
