Stardew Valley: How To Get & Use The Crystalarium

by Caleb Mar 17,2025

Stardew Valley offers more than just farming; it's about building a thriving farm and maximizing profits. Beyond crops and livestock, valuable items like gemstones play a crucial role. Gemstones are not only beautiful and valuable for selling, but they also serve as crafting components and thoughtful gifts.

However, tirelessly mining for rare gemstones can be inefficient. This is where the Crystalarium shines. This remarkable device allows you to multiply gemstones and minerals, creating a significant boost to your income and resources. Let's explore how to obtain and utilize this powerful tool.

Updated January 6, 2025, by Demaris Oxman: The 1.6 update introduced subtle changes affecting high-level items like the Crystalarium, particularly its movement and stone replacement. This guide reflects the latest game version.

Obtaining a Crystalarium

CrystalariumTo craft a Crystalarium, you need to reach Mining Level 9. The required materials are:

  • 99 Stone Stone: Easily obtained by breaking rocks on your farm or in the Mines.
  • 5 Gold Bar Gold Bars: Mine Gold Ore (Levels 1-80) and smelt it with Coal in a Furnace.
  • 2 Iridium Bar Iridium Bars: Mine Iridium in Skull Cavern or obtain it daily from the Statue of Perfection. Smelt Iridium Ore in a Furnace.
  • 1 Battery Pack Battery Pack: Place a Lightning Rod outside during a thunderstorm.

Alternatively, you can acquire a Crystalarium without crafting:

  • Community Center Bundle: Complete the 25,000g bundle in the Vault.
  • Museum Donation: Donate at least 50 minerals (gemstones or geodes) to the Museum.

Using the Crystalarium

Crystalarium in usePlace your Crystalarium indoors or outdoors. The Quarry is a popular location for multiple Crystalariums. It replicates any mineral or gemstone (except Prismatic Shards). Quartz has the shortest growth time, but Diamonds, despite their longer 5-day production, offer the highest profit.

To move a Crystalarium, hit it with an axe or pickaxe. If it's actively producing, the gem will drop. To change the gem type, simply place a new gem into the Crystalarium while it's running; the old gem will be ejected.

By strategically using Crystalariums, you can significantly increase your income and enhance your relationships with Pelican Town's residents through valuable gifts.
