Starfield Creation Teases PS5 Release with PlayStation Logo Appearance

by Samuel May 03,2025

Speculation about Starfield potentially being confirmed for release on PlayStation 5 intensified over the weekend when eagle-eyed fans spotted a PlayStation logo on Bethesda’s official Creations website. The logo was linked to a work-in-progress ship decals Creation for Starfield. Although the Creation was promptly removed, the brief appearance has fueled rumors that Bethesda’s sci-fi game, which has been exclusive to PC and Xbox, might soon make its way to the PS5.

They have added the Playstation logo to a creation. (I think they are beta testers, the logo only appears on one creation)

Thoughts naturally turn to the possibility of Bethesda planning a significant content update, or even a new expansion, to coincide with Starfield's anticipated PS5 launch. Following the lukewarm reception to the Shattered Space expansion, Bethesda has been relatively quiet about Starfield. However, with Microsoft expected to host another summer showcase, fans may soon get more details about the game's future.

Bethesda has hinted at "exciting things" in store for Starfield this year, amidst growing player discontent over communication and updates. In June 2024, Bethesda reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Starfield and confirmed at least one more story expansion after Shattered Space. In an interview with YouTube channel MrMattyPlays, Bethesda Game Studios’ Todd Howard mentioned plans for annual story expansions for "hopefully a very long time."

Starfield launched in September 2023 as Bethesda's first new intellectual property in years and its first mainline single-player game since Microsoft's acquisition of ZeniMax Media in March 2021. IGN's review gave Starfield a 7/10, praising its expansive roleplaying quests and solid combat despite various challenges.

In January, Microsoft's gaming boss Phil Spencer hinted at the possibility of Starfield coming to PS5. Reports from March 2024 suggested both Starfield and MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were being considered for the PS5. While Indiana Jones has been confirmed for a PS5 release in spring 2025, Starfield remains unconfirmed, though Spencer's comments suggest it's a possibility.

Several Xbox games are already available on PS5, including Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Pentiment. Microsoft also publishes Minecraft across various platforms and is set to release Doom: The Dark Ages and Ninja Gaiden 4 on PS5 later this year. Forza Horizon 5 is also slated for a PS5 release, and there are even rumors about Halo making its debut on PlayStation after years of Xbox exclusivity.

Spencer has stated that Xbox's multiplatform strategy is driven by the need to increase revenue for Microsoft's gaming division, especially following the massive $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

“We run a business,” Spencer said in August last year. “It’s definitely true inside of Microsoft the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery we have to give back to the company. Because we get a level of support from the company that’s just amazing and what we’re able to go do.

“So I look at this, how can we make our games as strong as possible? Our platform continues to grow, on console, on PC, and on cloud. It’s just going to be a strategy that works for us.”

Bethesda Game Studios, with its 450-person team, is currently working on multiple fronts, including Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 76, mobile games, and external development partnerships.
