Nintendo a récemment dévoilé un design actualisé pour Diddy Kong, après la transformation antérieure de son compagnon, Donkey Kong. Plus tôt cette année, les fans ont remarqué des mises à jour importantes de l'apparition de Donkey Kong dans des illustrations officielles et dans les images de prévisualisation de Mario Kart World.
Maintenant, Diddy Kong a également subi une refonte, comme présenté par des illustrations sur le site officiel de Nintendo et à la Licensing Expo 2025 à Las Vegas. Selon Nintendo Life, le nouveau Diddy Kong présente un style plus caricatural avec des yeux plus ronds et un sourire plus ludique et amical.

Nintendo est resté silencieux sur les raisons de la refonte de Diddy Kong et des modifications antérieures à Donkey Kong. Cependant, beaucoup pensent que ces modifications s'alignent sur les apparitions des personnages dans le film très réussi The Super Mario Bros.
