"Alicia Silverstone Returns for Clueless Sequel Series"

As if they could resist bringing back Alicia Silverstone in her iconic yellow and plaid ensemble. The beloved actress is reportedly set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in an upcoming Clueless sequel series, slated for Peacock.

According to Variety, the project is currently in development with the streaming service, though plot details are being kept under wraps. What we do know is that Silverstone will be returning, and the series will continue the narrative from the original 1995 film. This new endeavor differs from a previously planned Clueless spin-off that Peacock had in the works back in 2020.

The creative team behind the series includes Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, renowned for their work on the original Gossip Girl series and its reboot, alongside Jordan Weiss. Together, they will write and executive produce the series. They'll be joined by Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, the film's original producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are also on board as producers.

This isn't the first time Clueless has made the leap to the small screen. Following the film's success, a television adaptation aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, with Rachel Blanchard stepping into the role of Cher instead of Silverstone.

Silverstone's recent return to her Clueless character in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten hints at her eagerness to dive back into Cher's world. And honestly, who can blame her?
