Capcom Releases PC Troubleshooting Guide for Monster Hunter Wilds Amid 'Mixed' Steam Reviews

by Scarlett May 06,2025

Capcom has issued official advice for PC via Steam players of Monster Hunter Wilds following its launch, which received a 'mixed' user review rating primarily due to performance issues. The Japanese gaming giant suggested that Steam users experiencing initial problems should update their graphics drivers, disable compatibility mode, and adjust their game settings accordingly.

"Thank you all for your patience and support!" Capcom expressed via a tweet, acknowledging the community's feedback.

One particularly critical Steam review, marked as 'most helpful,' highlighted severe optimization problems, stating that Monster Hunter Wilds has "the worst optimization I've ever seen." The reviewer lamented the high system demands, noting, "I understand that new games are becoming more demanding and people are expected to upgrade, but this is absurd." They referenced similar issues faced by Monster Hunter: World at launch, urging players to "consider waiting for a more stable release."

Echoing these sentiments, another negative review criticized the game's performance, describing it as "absolutely atrocious for how the game looks. Runs even worse than the beta."

In response, Capcom released a 'Troubleshooting & Known Issues' guide to help Steam users resolve these issues. The guide advises players to ensure their systems meet the minimum requirements, update video/graphics drivers, check for Windows updates, perform a clean installation of video drivers, update DirectX, and add the game and Steam folders to their anti-virus program’s exception list. Additionally, Capcom recommends running Steam and the game in administrator mode and verifying the integrity of game files through Steam.

For those still facing issues, Capcom suggests visiting the Official Monster Hunter Wilds Troubleshooting & Issue Reporting Thread on the Steam community page for more detailed steps.

Despite these performance hiccups, Monster Hunter Wilds has enjoyed a robust launch, nearly reaching 1 million concurrent players on Steam. This places it among the top 10 most-played games on Steam, with numbers expected to grow over the weekend.
