Dating in Fields of Mistria: Is It Possible?

NPC Studio's *Fields of Mistria* has garnered praise for its compelling marriage candidates, engaging dialogue, and thoughtfully crafted romance questlines. But the question on many players' minds is: Can you date romance options in *Fields of Mistria*?

The short answer is no – at least not technically. Yet, after investing over 100 hours into wooing March, I can confidently say that *Fields of Mistria's* current romance system is well worth your time and the $13.99 price tag on Steam.

The game's first major update in November 2024 expanded the heart cap from four to six and introduced a new heart event for each romanceable NPC, marking significant relationship milestones. These events unlock at two, four, and six hearts, with NPC Studio planning to add eight- and ten-heart events in future updates. However, no specific dates or details have been announced beyond the upcoming March 2025 update, which won't increase the heart level cap or introduce new heart events.

While the prospect of more quests in Mistria is thrilling, new players might be disappointed by the pause in romance development. Yet, *Fields of Mistria's* current romance system is truly exceptional, thanks to its rich, realistic dialogue that skillfully weaves in flirty undertones with romance options.

The existing heart events are a testament to this. Though early cutscenes might appear platonic, their ambiguity leaves room for romantic interpretation, particularly in setting. As you progress, your romantic relationships deepen, making the romantic pacing in *Fields of Mistria* feel exceptionally rewarding, even without traditional dating.

New players shouldn't dismiss *Fields of Mistria* just because you can't date. The last major update introduced the Shooting Star Festival, a summer event where you can initiate a date with eligible NPCs once you reach four hearts. At the time of writing, you can also spend the evening watching the stars with Caldarus, though this doesn't trigger a date at the Summit location as it does with other romance options. This might change with the game's March 2025 update, which will unlock Caldarus's romance questline.

For now, you might not be able to make your relationship official with dateable NPCs in *Fields of Mistria*, but the current content provides plenty to keep players engaged until more features are introduced.
