Sony Bravia X93L Review by Jaron Schneider
"The Sony X93L isn’t cheap, but largely earns its price through very good image quality powered by top-tier processing that results in a fantastic gaming experience."
Launched in March 2023, the Sony Bravia XR X93L stands as the second highest-end non-OLED model in Sony's lineup, just below the X95L, which was only available in an 85" size in the US. The X93L's Mini LED technology is particularly adept at handling HDR content. The Mini-LED backlighting system features an array of smaller, more numerous LEDs that can independently turn on and off. This technology significantly enhances black levels and contrast ratios, delivering a more dynamic viewing experience.
Gamers will find the X93L to be an excellent choice. It boasts four HDMI ports, with two supporting the HDMI 2.1 specification. This feature allows for 4K output at a 120Hz refresh rate, ideal for next-gen consoles such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. However, for the upcoming Switch 2, which will be limited to 60fps in 4K when docked, HDMI 2.1 isn't necessary.
Android smartphone users will appreciate the intuitive Google TV smart interface on the Sony Bravia XR X93L. It's user-friendly, reliable, and offers the convenience of using your Android device as a remote.
