Excitement is brewing in the Hollow Knight: Silksong community as the game's Steam metadata has undergone minor updates, fueling anticipation for its eventual release. Fans are closely monitoring these changes, hoping for imminent news about the long-awaited sequel to Hollow Knight.

A glimmer of hope has emerged for Hollow Knight: Silksong enthusiasts with the game's Steam metadata receiving a subtle update. According to SteamDB, the Steam front for Silksong was updated on March 24, with the game now opted-in for GeForce NOW. This move suggests that Silksong will be compatible with NVIDIA's cloud gaming platform upon release.
Additionally, there have been adjustments to the game's hidden assets and legal information, with the copyright now listed as Team Cherry 2025, up from its previous 2019 listing. While no official confirmation has been provided, these updates could be hinting at an upcoming Silksong-related announcement or event. The gaming community has been eagerly awaiting news on Silksong, often flooding comment sections of events like PlayStation State of Play and Xbox Developer Direct in hopes of updates.
With this recent Steam update and the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 Direct scheduled for April 2, fans are once again holding their breath for news about Silksong.

Further boosting fans' optimism about Silksong's imminent release, the game was mentioned in an Xbox Indies post. In an Xbox Wire article dated March 18, ID@Xbox director Guy Richards highlighted the success of the ID@Xbox program, which has paid over $5 billion to indie developers. Richards discussed previous successes like Balatro, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, and Phasmophobia, and then turned attention to the program's upcoming lineup.
He noted, "Looking ahead, our lineup is incredible with upcoming games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Descenders Next, and FBC: Firebreak to play across the whole Xbox universe… and of course Hollow Knight: Silksong too!" Notably, the release dates for the other mentioned games are set within this year: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 on April 24, Descenders Next on April 9, and FBC: Firebreak slated for 2025. This could imply that Silksong might be released in a similar timeframe, though nothing has been officially confirmed yet.

Silksong was first unveiled by Team Cherry in February 2019, originally intended as a DLC for Hollow Knight but eventually expanding into a full-scale sequel due to its size and unique features. In 2022, a gameplay trailer was showcased during the Xbox-Bethesda event, with Microsoft confirming that all featured games would be available within the next 12 months.
However, in 2023, Team Cherry announced that Silksong's release had been delayed beyond the first half of the year, but reassured fans that development would continue, and updates would be provided as the release approached.
Earlier this year, Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Handler Matthew Griffin confirmed on Twitter (X) on January 18 that "Yes the game is real, progressing and will release," offering a sliver of hope to eager fans.
With the latest updates and news surrounding the game, the community is buzzing with anticipation for a Silksong-related reveal in the near future. Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC, though no official release date has been announced by Team Cherry.
