Next month, PlayStation Plus subscribers will see a significant shakeup in their game library, with 22 titles being removed on May 20, 2025. Among these are fan favorites like Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2.
PlayStation Plus offers an expansive online gaming service for PlayStation users, featuring monthly free games, time-limited trials, online multiplayer capabilities, and exclusive discounts for members. Additionally, Extra and Premium members have access to a vast catalog of current and classic games.
As highlighted by Push Square, the impending removal of these 22 games from the PS Plus Premium library is noteworthy, especially the exit of two significant first-party Sony PS3 games.

This is particularly impactful for Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2, as these games are no longer available for purchase on the PS Store. The PS Plus Premium streaming service is the final platform to experience these titles, unless you own the games and a functional PS3. Both were added to the library towards the end of 2024 and will be removed less than a year later.
The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac, offers alternate history first-person shooter experiences following their work on the Ratchet and Clank series. The trilogy concluded on the PS3, after which Insomniac shifted focus to projects like Marvel’s Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank titles.
Sony's decision to remove first-party games from the service, while unusual, is not without precedent. The unexpected removal of Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West in August 2024 set a similar tone, although those games remained available for purchase. In contrast, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will be completely inaccessible on modern consoles post-removal.
Notably, Resistance 3 and Resistance: Retribution will continue to be available on the service. Additionally, the PS4 title InFamous: Second Son is also slated for removal from PS Plus.
Insomniac's Resistance series has been on hiatus for some time. In February, Ted Price, the founder and outgoing president of Insomniac, disclosed efforts to develop Resistance 4, which ultimately did not materialize. Like Guerrilla's Killzone series, Resistance has taken a backseat in recent years.
