Stalker 2 Quest Guide: Uncover Scientific Mysteries

by Allison Jan 18,2025

In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Dr. Shcherba's request for help initiates the side mission "In the Name of Science," a quest requiring the retrieval of electronic collars from various mutants. This detailed guide covers the mission's progression, crucial choices, and potential solutions for encountered bugs.

Collecting the Electronic Collars:

This mission involves locating five electronic collars. Their locations are pre-determined, though prior exploration might have already yielded some. If you're missing collars, the map will indicate their positions.

Region Collar Location Mutant
Garbage The Brood Snork
Wild Island Boathouse Psy Bayun
Zaton Hydrodynamics Lab Controller
Malachite Brain Scorcher Brain Scorcher
Red Forest Containers Pseudogiant

After gathering all five collars, return to Shcherba at the Roofed Warehouse in the Chemical Plant. If you've previously collected and sold collars, causing a bug, use the console command "XEndQuestNodeBySID E08_SQ01_S2_SetJournal_WaitForSherbaCall_Finish_Pin_0" to advance.

Jammer Decision: Disable or Recalibrate?

Upon delivering the collars, Shcherba discovers a signal jamming their function. He tasks Skif with locating and disabling the source. The jamming device is found in the Storage on the Hill, west of the Roofed Warehouse. You face a choice:

  • Destroy/Disable the Jammer (Recommended): This advances the mission, awarding coupons and leading to a confrontation with bloodsuckers and a further choice.
  • Recalibrate the Jammer: This concludes the quest with a coupon reward from Dvupalov.

Final Confrontation: Kill or Spare Shcherba?

Disabling the jammer leads to a call from Shcherba, followed by a visit to his lab. You'll receive Magic Vodka from Dr. Dvupalov. A subsequent encounter involves three bloodsuckers and a final confrontation with Shcherba. The choice is whether to kill or spare Shcherba. Both options yield the same rewards (a Gauss Gun and the "On a Leash" trophy), but sparing him maintains positive relations with the scientists.

If Shcherba fails to contact you, use the console command "XStartQuestNodeBySID E08_SQ01_S3_Technical_SherbaInvitedToLab" to progress. This detailed walkthrough ensures a smooth completion of "In the Name of Science."
