In the latest installment of Nintendo's Creator's Voice series, Naoki Hamaguchi, the director behind the Final Fantasy Remake series, announced an exciting development for fans: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will soon be available on the upcoming Switch 2. This news is a significant milestone for the beloved franchise, bringing it back to Nintendo platforms.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is the enhanced PS5 version of the 2020 PS4 release, which kicked off the remake trilogy by expanding on the iconic 1997 PlayStation 1 RPG, Final Fantasy VII. The Intergrade edition not only boasts improved graphics and lighting over its PS4 counterpart but also includes the Intermission DLC, focusing on the adventures of the spirited ninja Yuffie in Midgar.

Currently, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is accessible on PS5 and PC. However, thanks to the enhanced capabilities of the Switch 2, Hamaguchi believes it's now feasible to bring the full experience to Nintendo's new handheld console. He expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, "With the power of the Switch 2, we can now recreate Midgar with full specs."

Hamaguchi also highlighted the unique advantage of the Switch 2's portability, noting, "Being able to play this game on the Switch 2 in handheld mode means you can play it on the train while commuting to work." This feature will enable players to easily share their gaming experiences and progress with others on the go.

Moreover, the Switch 2 version will integrate GameChat, allowing players to communicate with friends and share their screens in real-time during gameplay. Hamaguchi shared his excitement, saying, "I’m very excited to see this game playable on a portable system," and expressed optimism about fostering a strong collaboration between Nintendo and the Final Fantasy brand.

While only Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has been confirmed for the Switch 2 so far, Hamaguchi hinted at future releases, stating, "I hope players are looking forward to the Final Fantasy VII Remake series on Switch 2." This suggests that subsequent entries in the trilogy, including Rebirth and the final chapter, might also make their way to the Switch 2.

It's a nostalgic return for the Final Fantasy series, which originally launched on Nintendo consoles before transitioning to the PlayStation 1 with Final Fantasy VII in 1997, the first 3D entry in the series. Now, with the remake, fans can once again enjoy Final Fantasy VII on Nintendo hardware.
