LEGO Launches Own Gaming Projects

by Isaac May 05,2025

LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has shared exciting news about the future of the iconic toy company, announcing a significant push into the digital gaming world. LEGO aims to develop video games both independently and in collaboration with other developers, emphasizing the expansion of their digital footprint while maintaining the beloved LEGO brand experience. Christiansen stated, "We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing."

This strategic move into in-house game development does not preclude LEGO from continuing to license its brand to third-party developers. Just last month, journalist Jason Schreier reported that TT Games, renowned for their LEGO-themed titles, is currently developing a new game, likely connected to a Warner Bros. franchise.

LEGO's most notable gaming endeavor to date is its collaboration with Epic Games. The introduction of a LEGO-themed mode in Fortnite last year was a resounding success, quickly becoming one of the game's most popular features. This partnership highlights LEGO's commitment to integrating its brand into the digital gaming landscape.

Over the past two decades, LEGO has been closely associated with the adventure game series developed by TT Games. Although new projects from the studio have been relatively quiet, there are whispers of a new LEGO Harry Potter game in development, inspired by the commercial success of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Furthermore, LEGO's partnership with 2K Games resulted in the release of LEGO 2K Drive, a racing game launched last year. This venture underscores LEGO's versatility and adaptability within the gaming industry, showcasing their ability to explore various genres and gaming experiences.
