The developers behind Marvel Rivals have exciting news for fans: they're planning to introduce new heroes every month, along with shorter seasons. Dive into the details about their post-Season 2 plans, including new characters and skins.

To keep Marvel Rivals as dynamic and engaging as it was at launch, NetEase has announced a shift from releasing two heroes per season to a new hero every month. This was revealed by Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong during the Marvel Rivals Dev Vision Vol. 05 on April 4, along with plans to shorten each season.
Starting from Season 3, the duration of each season will be reduced from three months to two, allowing for a new hero to be introduced each month. Guangguang stated, "After extensive internal discussions and thorough evaluation, we’ve decided that starting from Season 3, the seasons will shift to a two-month format, with a new hero debuting each month."

The pressure to maintain the game's excitement, fueled by social media discussions, has influenced this decision. Additionally, the developers are considering new game modes to further enhance the experience, which could lead to up to 12 new heroes being added annually. Balancing these new additions will be challenging, but Guangguang highlighted the team's approach in an interview with PC Gamer on March 14, emphasizing the use of key metric data like pick rates, win rates, and more to guide their balancing efforts.

Season 2, dubbed the Hellfire Gala, introduces a new hero, Emma Frost, who invites Marvel Heroes to the Mutant haven of the Living Island Krakoa. Emma Frost, an X-Men villain with telepathic powers and the ability to transform objects into diamonds, will serve as a Vanguard in the game.
The Hellfire Gala promises a lavish celebration, with the trailer showcasing new skins for characters like Luna Snow, Magneto, Cloak and Dagger, and Black Panther, all dressed in elegant formal wear. The event draws inspiration from Marvel’s Hellfire Club, a society of the wealthy and elite who influence global events.

Following Emma Frost, Season 2.5 will introduce Ultron, another iconic Marvel villain. The Hellfire Gala trailer hints at Ultron's robots crashing the party, setting the stage for the Age of Ultron. Details about Ultron's role are yet to be fully disclosed.
Marvel Rivals announced on Twitter (X) on April 4 that new skins for Thor and Hawkeye are now available. Thor’s Lord of Asgard skin draws inspiration from his revival by Odin in the comics, while Hawkeye’s Ronin skin reflects his time as a vigilante samurai.
Thor’s Rune King bundle includes the Rune King costume, spray, nameplate, The Omniscient MVP, and Well of Mimir emote. Meanwhile, the Hawkeye Ronin bundle comes with the Ronin skin, spray, nameplate, Deadly Rain MVP, and Hone to Perfection emote.
These updates and future plans underscore NetEase’s commitment to supporting Marvel Rivals for 10 years and beyond. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay updated with the latest on Marvel Rivals by checking out our article below!
