Zelda Notes App May Allow Equipment Repair in Switch 2 Zelda Ports

by Mia May 13,2025

The Nintendo Switch 2 versions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are set to receive some exciting upgrades, including a notable feature for equipment repair. As highlighted by YouTuber Zeltik during a recent Nintendo Treehouse Live stream, the Zelda Notes app, a mobile companion app exclusive to these Nintendo Switch 2 versions, introduces a Daily Bonus feature. This feature allows players to roll for various in-game bonuses, such as meal effects, health and stamina recovery, and crucially, Equipment Repairs.

In both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, the durability of weapons, shields, and other items has been a point of contention among players. The introduction of a method to repair equipment, like keeping your cherished Flameblade intact, could be a welcome change for many fans. However, it's important to note that this feature comes with a limitation: it's based on chance. The Daily Bonus uses a roulette wheel to randomly determine the bonus, meaning Equipment Repair is not guaranteed every day. Additionally, players must wait for a daily timer to reset before they can spin again, making this feature useful in emergencies but not a complete overhaul of the game's mechanics.

Beyond equipment repairs, the Zelda Notes app offers a range of other features that promise to enrich the gaming experience. Both games will incorporate achievements through this mobile companion program, and special audio memories will provide new lore and background details about Hyrule. These enhancements, combined with the performance improvements of the Nintendo Switch 2, are set to significantly enhance the open-world Zelda experience, particularly for players who have been frustrated by the durability system.
