The inZOI game director, Hyungjun Kim, recently revealed intriguing details about an upcoming Karma system that introduces a paranormal element to the game's realistic setting. This system will determine whether deceased Zois transition to the afterlife or remain as ghosts, dependent on their accumulated Karma points.

Kim's Discord post on February 7, 2025, explained that Zois with sufficient Karma points proceed to the afterlife, while those with insufficient points linger as ghosts until they accrue enough points to move on. The specific actions required to increase Karma points remain undisclosed.

The impact of these ghostly encounters will be carefully managed, Kim assured. While the team aims to avoid overshadowing the core gameplay, they intend to create engaging interactions. Currently, in the Early Access version, interactions with ghost Zois are limited to specific times and conditions, primarily involving unique conversations.

Kim also expressed a desire to explore more fantasy elements within the game's realistic framework, suggesting that these paranormal additions could enhance the overall experience.
A sponsored video by content creator MadMorph, part of a Krafton Inc. collaboration in August 2024, offered a brief preview of the Karma system. The video showcased "Karma Interactions," a feature allowing Zois to perform actions that either increase or decrease their Karma points. Examples shown included a playful, albeit somewhat rude, action (secretly farting on another Zoi's face), while positive actions like "throwing away trash" or "liking a friend's post" were mentioned but not demonstrated.

While the Early Access version, launching on Steam March 28, 2025, will focus on the living Zois, the full impact of the Karma Interaction system will be realized in future updates.
