The developer of inZOI has officially confirmed the removal of Denuvo DRM from the game. Over the last day, multiple reports surfaced indicating that the Creative Studio mode demo included the anti-tamper software. The use of Denuvo in video games has long been a point of contention, with many users and experts noting its potential negative impact on performance.

This digital rights management and anti-tamper technology is intended to prevent the illegal copying and distribution of PC titles, creating a significant barrier for pirates attempting to release cracked versions.

In a Steam blog post dated March 26, inZOI director Hyungjun 'Kjun' Kim addressed the community's concerns, clarifying that the upcoming Early Access version, scheduled for release on Friday, will ship without any DRM. "Our initial decision to use Denuvo was driven by a desire to protect the game from unauthorized distribution. We believed it was a necessary step to ensure a fair experience for everyone who purchased the game legitimately. However, after carefully reviewing community feedback, we recognized that this measure was inconsistent with player expectations," Kjun explained.

He also apologized for failing to notify players beforehand about Denuvo's presence in the Creative Studio mode. Kjun acknowledged that while removing the DRM increases the risk of piracy and illegal distribution, it also ensures that inZOI remains fully customizable, granting players greater freedom to modify the game and design their own unique experiences. "We are convinced that embracing this open approach from the start will foster greater creativity and long-term engagement within our community," he added.

inZOI's Foundation as a Mod-Friendly Game

inZOI has consistently emphasized the central role of modding in its design, which made the inclusion of Denuvo particularly confusing for players, since such software typically restricts the ability to install mods and apply custom content.

Kjun reinforced the studio's position, stating, "As I highlighted during the Online Showcase, our goal is to make inZOI a deeply moddable experience. The first phase of official mod support is set to launch in May, providing players with tools to create custom assets using software like Maya and Blender. However, this is just our starting point. We intend to gradually broaden mod support to cover additional aspects of the game, enabling you to tailor and enrich your gameplay in diverse ways."

He also mentioned that a dedicated post will be published soon with further details on the modding system. Krafton remains focused on its player-first philosophy, actively listening to community input and making timely adjustments to deliver a high-quality gaming experience.

inZOI is scheduled to enter Early Access on March 28, 2025, for PC. The full launch is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. As of now, a specific release date for the full version has not been announced.
