Valheim is a game that challenges players to explore new biomes and gather materials to prepare for epic battles against formidable bosses. The journey can be tough, especially in treacherous areas like the Swamp and Mountain, where even the most seasoned adventurers can fall in a few hits upon arrival.

However, Valheim offers some relief through its merchants, who provide essential items to ease your journey through this perilous world. At the time of writing, there are three merchants in the game, each with unique offerings that can significantly enhance your gameplay. Due to the game's procedurally generated worlds, locating these merchants can be a challenge. Here's a detailed guide on where to find each merchant and what they have in store for you.

How To Find Haldor In Valheim (Black Forest Merchant)

Haldor, the Black Forest Merchant, is one of the easiest to locate because he spawns within a 1500m radius of the world's center, closer than any other trader. You can start your search in the Black Forest biome, which you can explore early in the game.

Haldor often appears near the spawn area of The Elder, the boss of the Black Forest. You can find The Elder's nearest spawn point by examining the glowing ruins in Burial Chambers. Given the vast area to cover, using the Valheim World Generator, created by wd40bomber7, can be a time-saver. This tool allows you to input your world seed and pinpoint the exact locations of traders.

Haldor can spawn in multiple locations, but once you find him, he will always return to that spot. Building a portal near his location is advisable for quick and easy access. You'll need gold to trade with him, which you can obtain by exploring dungeons and selling items like Rubies, Amber Pearls, Silver Necklaces, and more.

How To Find Hildir In Valheim (Meadows Merchant)

Hildir, found in the Meadows, is more challenging to locate than her brother Haldor. Despite being in the safest biome, she tends to spawn far from the world's center, typically between 3000 and 5100m away. Each potential spawn point is about 1000m apart.

To find her quickly, you can use the Valheim World Generator. If you prefer the thrill of the hunt, search the Meadows within the specified radius. When you're within 300-400m of her location, a T-Shirt icon will appear on your map, marking her camp. Once you find Hildir, build a portal for easy access.

Hildir specializes in clothing that offers various buffs. Her items often provide the same benefits, allowing you to choose based on style without sacrificing functionality. Additionally, Hildir offers quests that lead you to new dungeons in different biomes, such as:

  • Smouldering Tombs in The Black Forest
  • Howling Caverns in Mountains
  • Sealed Towers in The Plains

Completing these quests and returning the chests to Hildir unlocks new items with diverse effects.

How To Find The Bog Witch In Valheim (Swamp Merchant)

The Bog Witch, the newest addition to Valheim's traders, resides in the challenging Swamp biome. You may need to upgrade your gear before venturing into this area, as it's one of the most difficult to navigate.

The Bog Witch can be found between 3000m and 8000m from the world's center, with potential spawn points 1000m apart. Using the Valheim World Generator can be particularly helpful in locating her. If you prefer to search manually, look for the Cauldron icon on your map when you're close. Once you find her, she'll stay in that location, so bring materials to build a portal for easy access.

The Bog Witch is unique as she's a friendly Greydwarf with a magical Kvastur that keeps her hut tidy and defends against enemies. Her hut offers a comfort level of 3, and she provides access to new items for cooking and crafting meads.
