Alan Wake 2 developers want to become “Europe's Naughty Dog”

Remedy Entertainment's ambition is to become a leading force in the gaming industry. Inspired by Naughty Dog, particularly their Uncharted series, Remedy aims to be "Europe's Naughty Dog," according to Alan Wake 2 director Kyle Rowley.

In a Behind The Voice podcast interview, Rowley detailed how this influence shaped Quantum Break and, subsequently, Alan Wake 2. He explicitly stated their goal: to be the European equivalent of the acclaimed American studio.

This aspiration is clearly reflected in Alan Wake 2's cinematic presentation, praised for its stunning visuals and gripping narrative. The game's success has cemented Remedy's status as a top European developer.

Remedy's ambitions extend beyond the horror genre. Naughty Dog's mastery of cinematic single-player experiences, exemplified by Uncharted and the critically acclaimed The Last of Us (a PlayStation mainstay and one of the most decorated franchises ever), serves as a clear benchmark.

Over a year post-launch, Alan Wake 2 continues to receive updates enhancing gameplay across all platforms. These improvements include optimizations for the PS5 Pro, introducing a "Balanced" graphics mode that combines aspects of the Performance and Quality modes.

These updates also refined graphical settings to ensure a smoother framerate and reduced visual noise. In addition to PS5 Pro enhancements, minor gameplay bugs, particularly within the Lake House expansion, have been addressed.
