Players don't trust ranked in Marvel Rivals and stats prove it

Statistics circulating on social media reveal a striking and potentially concerning rank distribution in the PC version of Marvel Rivals. The most significant anomaly lies in the disproportionate number of players concentrated in Bronze 3. This rank is automatically awarded upon reaching level 10, serving as the entry point into ranked matches.

Typically, competitive games employ a ranking system designed to resemble a Gaussian curve (bell curve), with the majority of players clustered around the middle ranks (e.g., Gold). Progression from lower ranks like Bronze is typically eased by a system where wins yield more points than losses, gradually pulling players towards the center. However, Marvel Rivals displays a vastly different pattern. The observed data shows approximately four times more players in Bronze 3 than in Bronze 2, a significant deviation from the expected Gaussian distribution.

This stark imbalance suggests a lack of engagement with the ranked system itself. While the underlying reasons may be multifaceted, this trend represents a potential red flag for NetEase, indicating a possible disconnect between player expectations and the game's competitive structure.
